Award winning design
About
After graduating with a first in Creative Advertising, Max Parker-Smith went onto study at The Inchbald School of Design in 2018.
Having received a distinction at The Inchbald and an award from “The English Garden” magazine, the opportunity arose to take part on a garden design TV programme called the “The Great Garden Challenge, 2019“. This was a three stage competition where the finalists (Millie Souter & Max being one team) got to design a garden at the famous ‘RHS Wisley’.
In the recent years, Max had also designed spaces for the well known sculptor David Harber as well as luxury furniture brands such as Indian Ocean, Oxenwood & Nth Degree at Chelsea Flower Show; all awarded 5*.
Max has also been awarded a Silver-Gilt at the RHS Tatton Flower Show 2021 in the Young Designers category and a Silver-Gilt at Hampton Court Flower Show 2023.
Based in South West London, Max works predominantly in the South East consisting of Sussex, Surrey, London, Kent and Hampshire though will travel for the inspiring projects.
Ethos
“The garden is where one can get lost and is happy not to be found”
Maximillian Design creates landscapes with emotional depth—spaces that connect people to place through thoughtful, layered design, where the modern blends seamlessly with the romantic.
At the heart of every project is the belief that a garden should be a quiet space for emotion and imagination—one that invites, rather than imposes, meaning.
A continuous study of botany informs our planting schemes that evoke both harmony and wildness. When paired with strong form and a clean, confident design sensibility, the result is richly evocative.
Every project is shaped by the aspirations of the client, leading to outcomes that are both distinctive and deeply personal and the aim is to ensure each garden feels rooted in its surroundings.
Max thrives on designing everything from city gardens to larger country landscapes.
